Automotive Technician

Job Description: Duties and Qualifications

An Automotive Technician, or Automotive Service Technician, fixes, inspects and maintains cars, trucks, SUVs, and other vehicles for drivers. Their main duties include using tools to find any potential issues with someone’s vehicle, explains problems with the car to the service writers and driver and performing maintenance on the car to fix it or prevent it from future breakdowns or issues.

Automotive Technician skills and qualifications

• Possession of or ability to obtain training credentials like an ASE certification
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical skills
• Experience using hand and power tools to replace and repair parts
• Coordination and Physical stamina
• Must be in good shape and can handle standing up and leaning over a vehicle for several hours a day.
• Must be able to lift, up to 80lbs.

Automotive Technician experience requirements

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in front end repairs such as, but not limited to: Brakes, Alignments, Suspensions, Shocks and Struts.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the installation of Lift kits and other custom accessories.
• Strong drivability skills to pinpoint problem with vehicles.
• Must be able to perform preventative maintenance services such as Oil Changes, Brake, and transmission flushes.
• Must be able to install and repair tires, perform tire rotations and balancing tires.
• Must Be willing to communicate with customers regarding their vehicle needs.
• Knowledge in building estimates.
